Wat Bang Kung

Wat Bang Kung is one of the historic site and memory of the battle against Burmese built in Ayutthaya period. Its Ordination Hall is covered with roots of four plants including Bodhi, Banyan, Krai and Krang. It has been honored as one of the Unseen Thailand list.

Next to the temple, there are sculptures of Thai boxing on display. Moreover, there is a small zoo and few old planes by the riverfront area.

Amphawa Chaipattana Nurak Royal Project

Amphawa Chaipattana Nurak is the royal project under the initiative of H.R.H Princess Mahachakri Sirindhorn. She assigned Chaipattana Foundation to utilize the donated land on carrying on Thai folk wisdom, and preserving ways of life of Amphawa people, including Thai traditional music band, demonstration of coconut leaf weaving, traditional cooking, traditional Thai puppet show, demonstration of leather shadow play carving. Chaan Chala Coffee & Tea House is also popular rendezvous for the project visitors to sit back and enjoy the vintage and retro interior while enjoy having beverages, ice cream and Thai sweets.

Fireflies watching boat tour

Amphawa Floating Market is an evening floating market in Amphawa, Samut Songkhram. This floating market is one of the most popular floating market in Thailand near Bangkok. The market is located near Wat Amphawan Chetiyaram. The Amphawa community conserve river lifestyle and architecture of houses which almost the same as Early Rattanakosin Period, and received “UNESCO Asian-Pacific for Culture Heritage Conservation” award from UNESCO in 2008. Amphawa Float Market opens every Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Public Holidays from 03.00 PM until 09.00 PM. It will be packed by tourists who come to enjoy canal view while having delicious food. Visitors can buy Thai food, seafood, Thai dessert, beverages, and souvenirs for their friends and family. At night, visitors can also arrange a boat ride to watch fireflies in the cork trees along the bank of Amphawa canal for 60 Thai Baht per person.

The market won’t open during the weekdays, but there are some shops and restaurants open to enjoy your dinner as well as Fireflies Night Cruise.
